Who can love a child as much as a mother does?

Now maheene udar me raakhaa jab duniyaa me aayaa
Sardee lagegee chaadar orhaa-kar stan doodh pilaayaa
Mother carries her child in her womb for nine months. She shares with him half of what she eats and drinks and protects him step after step. After he is born, she tends him, ensuring that he never be cold during the nights, and breastfeeding him when he cries for food.

Thapak thapak kar sukh se sulaayaa gaakar surlaa bhajanaa
Beemaar pare jab vaidya bulaakar owshadh paan karaayaa
She sends him to sleep by tapping him lightly and singing him a sweet lullaby. And when he is sick, she has a doctor called and medicine administered to him.

Jawaan bhaye jab shaadee karnaa tab tak prem na chhoote
Maataa ki mamtaa aisee baree hai saagar baraa hai jitnaa
